Bucky Covington Pines for the Past on New Song

Hindsight is 20/20. You don’t appreciate what you have until it’s gone. And all those other clichés about retrospectiveness. They all make for good country music. But now that Kenny Chesney has moved away from songs about wanting things to be like they used to be ( “The Good Stuff,” “There Goes My Life” and “Don’t Blink” ), it’s time for someone else to pick up that lyrical slack. And Bucky Covington ’s just the guy. When you throw his rich drawl into this message of pining for the past,

Another Weekend…

Here was my weekend, told through a few photos: Global Playground’s Night Under the Stars 2009 , a charity event. Went with the lovely Lexi (plus her beau) and Christine. Clover likes helping me in the kitchen. Homemade pigs in a blanket, with from scratch dough. (Hence some of the prep above.) I practice elevated and sophisticated cuisine, obviously. Horatio and Clover, playing tug of war.  For those of you who know Horatio, aka the Furry Monster,

Kenny Chesney, “Out Last Night”

Kenny Chesney previews his second hits collection with a morning after anthem that is refreshingly devoid of confusion or regret. They didn’t have too much or too little fun, just enough to justify the lost sleep and diminished checking accounts. Slice of Life #27

As I scanned through my radio presets, I stopped on the country station.   Is this Kenny Chesney? I thought as I listened to the song that was pouring through my speakers.   Why don’t I know this song?  Does he have an album coming out?  No, he can’t!  He just had a new album this past fall! As the song continued to play, I started humming along.  Kenny Chesney is one of my favorite artists and I own all of his CDs.  How could he have a new song without me hearing anything about it?   As t

Bummed about iTunes 30 percent price hike? Me, too. But I have just what you need. It’s a Web site called Spun.com . (Get it? It’s the past tense of “spin.”) Anyway, they will buy your old CDs and sell you new ones. It didn’t sound all that impressive when you could still buy single tracks from iTunes for just 99 cents. But now that a bunch of hit singles and classic tracks are going to cost $1.29 , it’s starting to sound like a pretty nice idea. This is iTunes’ first price increase since they
